Who is Ilija Nestorovski, the Palermo striker who stunned Italy?
Though revisiting Italy’s narrow 3-2 win over Macedonia brings shivers down every Azzurri fan’s spine, the 26-year-old Nestorovski has certainly earned everyone’s respect now.
Beyond scoring the momentary equaliser last night, he’s banged in goals against Crotone, Atalanta and Sampdoria, justifying his Coach Roberto De Zerbi’s faith in him and Zamparini’s scouting, which led him to buy the Macedonian in January and keep him in Croatia (with Inter Zapresic) until he could free up a non-EU slot.
The Palermo president has also got some sweet revenge, having been derided for comparing Nestorovski to Filippo Inzaghi, no less.
For once, the man may be right!
