Who will Bayern replace Lahm with? Here are two names

Philip Lahm’s decision to retire has hit the football world hard. Bayern Munich especially.

The Bundesliga champions have now been forced to look for a replacement, and a great footmercato feature sums up the situation very nicely.

The first name is that of Hoffenheim man Jeremy Toljan, having already nabbed the strong duo made up of Sebastian Rudy and Niklas Sule, which has the two clubs getting on well.

Toljan is 22 and his deal expires next summer, the report coming from Sky Sport Germany.

Then again, the big name on the list is provided by Sport Bild: that of Bayer Leverkusen defender Benjamin Heinrichs, who has played 17 Bundesliga games this season.

Their hand forced by Philip Lahm’s decision, the Bavarian team has focussed on the 19-year-old, who is cheaper than Benfica man Nelson Semedo, whose release clause is 60 million.

Heinrichs himself doesn’t have one of those, and gets rave reviews, so much so that agent Ali Bulut had claimed that clubs “from all over Europe” have already expressed an interest.
