Ivan Perisic was one of the last players to join Inter during the summer transfer market campaign. Roberto Mancini requested his services at all costs and the club’s president Erik Thohir satisfied his manger’s desires signing in the Croatia International.

The 26 year old joined the San Siro side from Wolfsburg following a € 16 million permanent deal, signed just one day before the deadline. Despite the two clubs were reported to be in talks since the very beginning of the transfer window, Dieter Hecking, seems to have been catch off-guard by Perisic’s last minute departure.

“At the club we expected that Ivan [Perisic] would have stayed with us”, the Budesliga giants manager declared to Spox.com

“Our plans for the season were involving Perisic as well as  Kevin de Bruyne and Aaron Hunt. They all left the clubs in the last hours of the transfer window. Our plans without them changed a lot. They told us they wanted to leave, but they did it when it was too late for us.”

Perisic, a product of the Hajduk Split academy, has not struggled to be in Roberto Mancini’s good book as he already played five matches, netting his first Serie A gol in the last league clash against Sampdoria.
