AC Milan news: Latest update on Keisuke Honda’s contract negotiations

Keisuke Honda was named as one of the best players on the pitch as the Japan International scored one goal and registered one assist in his side’s 3-0 win over Syria yesterday.

The AC Milan winger had had a difficult start to the season, but thanks to some brilliant performances he has earned the starter status at the San Siro.

His surging runs on the left flank have convinced Sinisa Mihajlovic to give him more than one chance to shine and the Japan International seems to have grasped the opportunity.

Honda, 29, has scored 2 goals and registered seven assists this term and according to CM.com’s Federico Albrizio he could extend his stay with the Rossoneri side.

Just a few months ago the player and the club had been edging closer to part company, but now that Honda’s stocks have raised his agent and brother Hiro will meet Adriano Galliani to open contract renewal talks.

The former CSKa Moscow’s deal runs until 2017, but the club would prefer to lower his € 2.5 million salary offering a new contract worth € 2 million a year plus bonuses.

Hiro Honda will land in Italy at the end of the season, between April and May. His brother’s qualities have also attracted the interest of many other clubs, though the player’s priority is staying at AC Milan.
