Allegri names the two best young Italian players in Serie A and the smartest player he’s ever coached

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has released an interview with Corriere dello Sport talking about the past, present and future of his career.

The first question is about his previous games against Maurizio Sarri’s sides. The first time they met as managers was in Italy’s third fourth division.

“It was a windy day, terribly cold. It was a poor game, it ended 0-0. At the end of the game fans hit at us saying we should have found another job, which is what we’ve done.”

“Throughout my career I’ve coached many great champions like Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Nesta, Carlos Tevez, Ibra and Gattuso. The smartest player I’ve coached, however, is Clarence Seedorf he had impressing charisma and personality.”

“Juventus are the favourite side to win the sixth successive scudetto, then we want to win all the domestic trophies, it’s not going to be an easy task, but we have to make it. The toughest Champions League games are just around the corner. The two games against Lyon are decisive for the qualification, but I trust my players.”

“When I joined Juventus I was happy, I wanted to prove that the club did not made the wrong choice. I asked the club to add a bonus for the victory of the Champions League. They thought it was impossible, but we managed to get until the final, we went very close.”

“Guardiola and Ancelotti are the best managers out there at the moment.”

“The best Italian players at the moment are Donnarumma and Locatelli. Then I’d say Pellegrini, Berardi, Bernardeschi, Romagnoli and Rugani. This generation will be part of a very strong squad in the future, probably in 2022 when there will be the World Cup in Qatar.”

“Kean is a very strong player, but we have no problems in attack. Sooner or later, however, he could make his debut with the senior team.”

“The transfer window can’t last 60 days, it has to end on the 15th of July, so that managers can work with the same squad for the entire season and from the very first day. The January window is also useless. A player that joins a new team in January doesn’t even have time to understand the new system and philosophy. That window should be moved to November.”
