Arsenal close to hiring Barca sporting director

Arsenal look to be boosting their recruitment cell, and hiring a sporting director.

Despite it being contrary to Coach Arsene Wenger’s wishes, they Gunners are very close to signing Barcelona man Raul Sanllehi.

Spanish paper Sport claim that the former Blaugrana will become director of operations at the Emirates, and is reported to have “a close friendship with Ivan Gazidis”, Arsenal’s CEO.

Sanllehi was respected for ensuring Neymar’s move to the Camp Nou back in 2013, and his South American contacts are particularly appreciated.

He was a chief negotiator there, but has yet to leave the Catalans, and will only step down on December 1st.

Arsenal look like they’re going to buy more interesting players in future, especially young talents, with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez expected to leave as early as January.

The news would be big for the Gunners, who are expected to rely on Sanllehi in January.
