At struggling AC Milan, Montella stays on as others are sacked
- Matthew Klimberg
With the club’s struggles this year have come ever growing calls for head coach Vincenzo Montella to be sacked. However, despite inconsistent play, and a devastating 0-2 home loss to Roma on Sunday, the tactician stays on.
For some of his staff, however, luck has not shone on them as multiple members of the organization have been let go. Today, word leaked out that Luigi Maragliano, the team’s travel manager, has been relieved of his duties.
Maragliano was a holdover from the Berlusconi/Galliani regime. Prior to the 2016 Supercoppa Italiana, he was the subject of intense criticism after Milan struggled to arrive in Doha ahead of their match with Juventus.
Last month, the team’s athletic trainer Emanuele Marra was relieved of his duties. Montella insisted the sacking was not an indictment of Marra’s abilities for the job.
