Barcelona Coach: Luis Suarez is priceless

Ernesto Valverde has defended under-fire striker Luis Suarez, claiming that he is “priceless” for Barcelona.

The former Liverpool man has scored three Liga goals this season, but has been criticised for not finding the net as regularly as usual.

The 30-year-old scored a stunning 40 Liga goals two seasons ago, and 29 last season.

The Uruguayan was criticised for a below-par performance in yesterday’s 2-0 win over Malaga, but Valverde was adamant.

“Suarez? I’m not worried at all because the important thing for strikers is that they have chances,” Valverde said in a press conference.

“He had a great match against Atletico and was lively against Olympiakos. That aggressiveness and ambition in the long run will benefit us.

“Luis Suarez is priceless for us. I don’t see any problems with him.”

Barcelona have been almost flawless this season, their only Liga draw coming in the away game to Atletico Madrid, where Suarez managed the Blaugrana’s leveller.
