Reports from Spain state that Catalan giants Barcelona have targeted Spurs and England midfielder Dele Alli as an alternative to Marco Verratti. It had seemed likely that the 24-year-old Italian would be heading to the Camp Nou this summer in a €100M deal but negotiations look to have stalled and new boss Ernesto Valverde is preparing to look elsewhere.
 

21-year-old Alli has had a sensational 12 months with Tottenham Hotspur and scored 22 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions last term. Reports of interest from Barca started to gather pace towards the end of the campaign and it’s understood that Lionel Messi and Neymar have both advised the club that he would be a great addition to the squad.
 

Valverde is also a huge fan and Diario Gol claims that he believes the young Englishman can bring excitement to the club if they can prize him away from North London.
