Bayern midfielder could be out for several months
The former Barcelona man was injured last night as Bayern Munich beat Anderlecht 2-1 in Champions League action.
Having moved to the Allianz Arena in 2013, the Spanish international – currently a member of the setup – could now face a long layoff, if Coach Jupp Heynckes is right.
The 26-year-old was seen leaving the Constant Vandenstock Stadium in crutches, prompting his Coach to say: “I think Thiago has a serious muscle injury.
Even that wasn’t as bad as what sporting director Hasan Salimahidzic said, the former winger/full-back claiming that the midfielder could be out “several months”.
This is potentially bad news for former club Barcelona – who sold him for €25 million to former Coach Pep Guardiola when he was in Germany – because they had been linked to Thiago as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who is turning out to be too expensive.
