Benatia: Juventus not far off Champions League glory

New Juventus signing Mehdi Benatia spoke to the media today, following his move from Bayern Munich, which was made official yesterday.

Asked about his team's chances of finally getting over the Champions League line, the former Roma man was adamant that the Bianconeri are closer than what last year's Round of 16 elimination may indicate.

“It's a pity that Juventus lost after playing so well. It's not like Bayern really deserved it, but they were able to beat a great team like Juventus, who had caused us a lot of problems.

"Juventus aren't far off, they're not far off at all. They reached the final the previous season".

On choosing the Bianconeri, Benatia had this to say: “Picking Juventus was a natural choice. Bayern is a great club, they're champions. Let's say that I feel closer to the Italian mentality than to its German equivalent, and that prompted me to return.

"I had a couple of difficult seasons from a personal perspective, a few injuries too many. It was known, by then, that I wanted to return to Italy, for my family, for the way of life, for the league, everything.
