Benevento's start to the 2017/2018 Serie A season has been one that cannot be described in any other way than a total an utter nightmare.

The team from Campania outside of Naples are makign their maiden season in the top tier of Italian football has gone as predicted before the start of the season and it seems that their adventure will only last one season. However, the Stregoni are en route to breaking a less than flattering record as reported by Sky Sport.

According to the report, Benevento's start to the Serie A season, where they have suffered 11 losses in 11 matches is the second worst start of all time any team has done in the top 5 European leagues. Only one team started the season worse, namely Manchester United who in 1930 lost their first 12 matches.

Next weekend Benevento travel to Turin to face off with Juventus which means that they will almost certainly equal the record set by the Reds before World War II. The following week they host Sassuolo at which point they can end this horrible streak or they will be the lone record holders of a record no-one wishes to have.
