Betrayed Paulo Sousa closer to Fiorentina exit as Marcos Alonso joins Chelsea

Chelsea are very close to signing Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for € 25 million.

The Portuguese tactician had hint that no big name would have left the Franchi in the current transfer window, but the imminent arrival of Marcos Alonso in South London could convince the former Basel boss to part ways with the Franchi side.

“No big names are going to leave the club, Corvino has promised me”, that’s what Sousa told media after Fiorentina’s 1-0 win over Chievo on Sunday night.

The club’s decision to sell the promising Spaniard, however, has left Sousa so disappointed that, according to Il Tempo, he is seriously considering to hand his resignation in.

Calciomercato.com, however, has exclusively learned that Paulo Sousa is not going to hand his resignation today. The Portuguese feels betrayed, but he wants to take time during the International break before taking a final decision.

Fiorentina would call Stefano Pioli straight away, should Sousa decide to resign. Meantime, Fiorentina fans are organizing a protest march for the club's transfer campaign which should take place tomorrow.
