Blow for Chelsea and Inter as coach of Italian starlet hints at stay

13 January at 15:20
Ahead of Cagliari’s Coppa Italia clash with Atalanta, Cagliari boss Rolando Maran spoke to the press; detailing answers to questions about the club’s market – both in terms of inbound and outbound players.
Speaking on the topic of Chelsea, Inter Milan and Napoli target Nicolo Barella, Maran said: “he has the right thoughts and his head is in Cagliari, I do not have different signals and I do not have any problem.”
Barella, who Cagliari are said to value at around €40m, has been considered one of the brightest stars for the future of Italian football and Cagliari are eager to keep hold of him for as long as possible.
Therefore, although it is likely that perhaps in the summer, it could be another matter entirely, for now Barella could be set to remain with Cagliari and see out the season with Maran and the rest of the squad before deciding on his future during the summer.
