Bonucci: 'Sometimes people forget how special the Italy shirt is'

Italy and Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci has said that the shirt of the national team is very special, but many people forget that sometimes.

Bonucci was part of the Azzurri side that was held to a 0-0 draw against Portugal last night, as they brought an end to a good campaign in the UEFA Nations League. They finished second behind Portugal, but ahead of Poland, who have been relegated.

Bonucci put out a post on Instagram recently, responding to the whistles of AC Milan fans during the goalless draw at San Siro.

The post read: "We wanted to win. We have not succeeded, but we are growing through results like these, and it is our goal. What matters is not losing enthusiasm and confidence, wearing this shirt is unique, this shirt is unique."

Bonucci had left AC Milan a season after having joined from Juventus for a fee of 40 million euros. He had joined Juve this past summer in a deal that saw Milan sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan and Mattia Caldara on a permanent basis.
