Brazilian starlet Gerson not leaving Roma in January

Roma starlet Gerson is not going to leave the club in the January transfer window, today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport reports.

The 19-year-old midfielder is failing to get regular game time under Luciano Spalletti so far this season, though the Italian tactician is known to be a long time admirer of the Brazilian promise who has been given a call-up to U2-0 Brazil national team for their two incoming meetings against Mexico.

Gerson is a cornerstone of Rogerio Micale’s U-20 squad and the Brazilian manager is set to call the promise of Roma for the U-20 Copa America that will be held in Ecuador between January and February.

The Brazilian ace is likely to be part of U-20 Brazil squad for that tournament, with Roma that will not be sending Gerson on loan to get experience and game time. The Serie A giants are set to keep Gerson until the end of the season, when Luciano Spalletti will decide whether to keep him or send him on loan.

Gerson, 19, has collected seven appearances registering one assist so far this season.
