Breaking: Tavecchio considers resignation from Italy after World Cup failure

Amidst mounting public and private pressure, Carlo Tavecchio is considering resisnging  from his position as president of the Italian football federation, FIGC.

According to multiple sources, Tavecchio had been considering the possibility of resigning since Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 60 years. Now, it appears he has come to the conclusion that he can no longer head the formerly proud organization.

Tavecchio oversaw the hiring of Giampiero Ventura, who has shouldered almost all of the blame in the fallout from Italy’s embarrassment on the world stage.
