Buffon: ‘Szczesny better than me. Higuain...’

29 October at 11:05
Gigi Buffon talked to Sky Sport after Juventus’ 2-0 win over AC Milan: “I will retire because I need to respect the choices of the club. They bought a younger and better goalkeeper than me like Szczesny. I don’t want to put Juve in a difficult position. New goalkeepers must replace me and they should do it quickly. The only thing I can do is to train and work hard and honour my career until the end.”

“I liked Juventus tonight [yesterday] because we wanted to attack from the very beginning but we had to defend because they were very aggressive. It was complicated for us to avoid their pressing and make the right passes. We understood we had to suffer and defend and that’s what we did. I think we showed who we really are tonight.”

“Higuain was great. He has put himself into question. I praised him after the Udinese clash because I felt he wants to be a leader of this Juve side. Tonight he has confirmed it. He sacrificed and helped us win. He is an extraordinary example for all of us.”

“That save on Kalinic? When I think about the penalties and the posts we hit against Lazio I don’t think we were unlucky. I rather think we didn’t have the same anger we showed today. Today we had a different approach. Things do not happen by chance.”
