Chelsea confident about signing Man United target, ditch Roma star to chase him

Chelsea think they have the edge in the race to sign Tiémoué Bakayoko, the Daily Mirror writes.

The English paper (via Le10Sport) claims that the Monaco star and Manchester United target is also being chased by the Blues, also, and that Coach Antonio Conte is confident that his club can nab him.

Key to this interest is, the Mirror continues, Conte’s reported abandonment of the pursuit for Radja Nainggolan, the Roma star who has long been courted by Chelsea and a number of other clubs.

Manchester United sent their head scout to the Stade Louis II last night to observe two of Monaco’s brightest stars in preparation for a double swoop this summer. Starsport claims that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho wants young striking sensation Kyllan Mbappe and midfielder and Tiemoue Bakayoko at Old Trafford next season.

Starsport claims that Jose Mourinho had Man United’s top scout head to the Louis II stadium in midweek in order to watch Bakayoko and Kylian M’Bappe, two players who played starring roles in kicking rivals City out of the Champions League.

The 22-year-old scored his third goal of the season - his first in Europe - to put Monaco 3-1 up and knock Pep Guardiola’s men out.
