Chelsea enter fray to sign 23 year old Arsenal midfielder

Reports out of England today via the Mirror have suggested that Chelsea are ready to enter the fray in an attempt to sign Arsenal’s 23 year old midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The player has one year left on his deal with the Gunners and could be entertaining projects that offer him more consistent playing time. If would be a hit for the Emirates club who signed Oxlade-Chamberlain from Sunderland in 2011, but a big gain in the depth department for Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Last October when not featuring regularly the Arsenal midfielder was on record that he might be looking for more regular playing time during an interview. At age 23, the England player must consider which options best suit him and his career. Chelsea’s recent surge under Conte has been a driving force in England, but the Blues will need a deeper and more quality squad next season as they embark again in the Champions League. Should they provide a more attractive offer and project than Arsenal, this could be the perfect time to persuade Oxlade-Chamberlain to switch his red jersey for a blue one.
