Chelsea join Real Madrid in race for Spanish star

Chelsea are also in the race for young Athletic Bilbao star Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to El Chiringuito.

Also wanted by Real Madrid, the 23-year-old is now considered by many to be one of Spain’s best goalkeepers, and is now La Roja’s Number 2 behind David De Gea.

Ironically, De Gea is also being chased by the Merengues, while Arsenal are also in the race for Kepa, whose deal with Bilbao expires next summer.

Athletic Bilbao have been trying to get him to sign a new deal which could help them make some money, one with an 100 million release clause in it.

Trouble is, Bilbao’s president has hinted that he isn’t too optimistic, saying in late October that: "I do not think it will take long for us to reach a definitive position. We will have to take his answer and we hope it is a positive one."

Real Madrid are looking for a new man to replace Keylor Navas in the long term, and are considered to be favourites for Kepa.
