Chelsea news, Sarri: ‘I can only thank de Laurentiis, my legacy at Napoli…’

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri, who joined the West London club to replace Antonio Conte from Napoli in the summer, gave a lengthy interview, in which he discussed various aspects of his life – from leaving Napoli to newfound success at Chelsea.

“Legacy at Napoli? I think the most visible one is numeric: I took a Napoli that had closed the championship with 64 points and I left a team that has reached 91. More than that could not be done. The other legacy is personal: the relationship with the city and its people. I will never leave Naples. They compared my Napoli to that of Vinicio, one of the best teams in Italy, in the seventies, to travel in the future. This combination honours me.

“De Laurentiis? I have nothing to say. I can only thank him. It gave me the greatest personal satisfaction of my life entrusting me with Naples, the team of my heart and of the origins. It was a wonderful adventure that can not be erased from a leave like this.”
