Pierluigi Collina leaves his role of referee designator at Lega Calcio and goes to UEFA. Marcello Nicchi, who will replace him, said: "Collina has been given an important position at an international level. I thank him for everyhing he's done. He's a great person that everybody in the world of football would want."

Collina said to Ansa:
“I have decided to leave my position as Lega Calcio designator because UEFA have come forward with a much more important role. My new role is titled ‘Chief refereeing officer’.
