CONFIRMED! China group in early talks over Milan sale

When it comes to explaining the business of football, Marco Bellinazzo, Italian journalist for the economic newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, is probably the most reliable sources out there.

Talking to the Radio TV Program Tutti Convocati, Mr. Bellinazzo revealed some interesting news concerning Milan’s future.

“Berlusconi had agreed to sell the 51% stakes but on the 1st of May he changed his mind and decided to sell the 48% instead.”

“Bee agreed, provided that both him and Berlusconi would have placed the 15% stakes each in the stock market within two years time, to allow the Thai broker to become the majority owner.”

Talks between Silvio Berlusconi and Mr.  Bee have been put on hold. The Thai broker couldn’t manage to find a reliable group approved by the Chinese government and which wanted to invest big money on a minority streak. Who’d ever do that? No one.”

“Fininvest have another offer on the table now. It is a Chinese group that made an attempt to buy the club at the beginning of last summer.”

“Talks are still in preliminary stages, but we know they’d only buy a majority stake.”
“Manchester City’s worth is around € 3 billion, Berlusconi wants € 1 billion to sell Milan.”

“That is not Milan’s worth in the real market, but it might be in the Chinese one.”

“[Despite the team’s lack of results] Milan’s worth, as a brand, could be more than Inter’s and Juventus’.”
