With Silvio Berlusconi and Milan already experiencing a case of buyer's remorse, some have looked back at the process that led the Rossoneri to picking under-fire coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, and wondering whether any of the other candidates would have done much worse.

David Pizarro certainly seems to have done that, arguing that the Milanese outfit would have climbed up the table had it gone in another direction.

"Luciano Spalletti and Vincenzo Montella get the best out of players, even from a personal perspective," the former Roma midfielder told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Milan would have really made a fresh start with one of them, I'm surprised at how a club like Milan is encountering so many difficulties".

The former Chilean international, who just so happens to have held key roles under Spalletti at Roma and Montella at Fiorentina, also mentioned that the Rossoneri had wanted him on board

"We had made contact, but nothing came of it because I'd have taken one of the team's non-EU slots".
