Exclusive: AC Milan approach for Sassuolo midfielder rejected

Serie A giants AC Milan have had an enquiry for Sassuolo star Stefano Sensi rejected, Calciomercato exclusively understand.

The rossoneri are in desperate need for a midfielder in the ongoing winter transfer window and have been heavily linked with a move for Sensi and neroverdi star Alfred Duncan.

We exclusively understand that Milan made a fresh attempt to enquire about the 23-year-old Italian star, but Sassuolo have pegged their approach back as they are not willing to sell the player.

Sensi is seen as an important part of Roberto de Zerbi's side and many see him as an irreplaceable part of the side. While they could part ways with the player for a fee around 25 million euros, Milan see that fee as a hinderance and won't pay that much.

The rossoneri are dealing with FFP restrictions and can't pay that fee, but a loan move seems a possibility as the restrictions could ease next summer to help them make the move a permanent one.

Paolo Maldini and Leonardo see Sensi as the midfielder that they need to act as an alternative to Cesc Fabregas, who is set for Monaco.
