Exclusive: how Man United can steal Samp defender from under Inter and Spurs noses

09 January at 13:40

Manchester United are strongly interested in signing Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, Calciomercato.com can exclusively reveal. The Denmark centre-back has emerged as one of the most exciting defenders in Europe and the Red Devils have joined Inter and Tottenham in the race to sign him.

Napoli and Roma are also keen to sign the player but in the last few days, Tottenham have made an approach with Sampdoria to inform the Blucerchiati that they will be able to pay € 40 million to sign the player in January.

Sampdoria, however, are in no rush to sell the defender who has a long-term contract and has no release clause included in his deal.

Manchester United have also made contact with Sampdoria but the Red Devils will only be open to signing the defender at the end of the season.

Manchester United have scouted Andersen several times this season and know the Sampdoria defender very well thanks to Stefano Rapetti, a former Sampdoria athletic coach who joined Man United last summer.
