EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With AC Milan loanee star Crociata: ‘Frank Lampard my idol’

Giovanni Crociata is a young central midfielder who completed a loan move from AC Milan to Cristian Brocchi’s Brescia last summer. Crociata, 19, has three appearances with the Serie B side this term and has released an exclusive interview with calciomercato.com

You are at the beginning of your experience with Brescia, but you know Brocchi very well. Why do you think he’s so good with youths?
“He understands the players’ needs. He’d just ended his playing career and knows exactly what a football players want. He has amazing skills and is very prepared. I think he’s a bright future ahead.”

Can we say you are one of his favourites?
“There’s lot of respect and he wanted me here, but I don’t like to say I’m one of his favourites.”

What is he asking you to improve?
“He wants me to have more anger, I haven’t got a massive body so I have to have more determination.”

Is the trequartista role your favourite postion?
“I played in different positions at AC Milan, that’s what happen when you are young. I’ve been playing a lot in that position in the last year or so, both with the AC Milan Primavera team and here at Brescia.  For sure, that’s the role I like the most.”

Your idol is Frank Lampard. Why?
“I admire him and I watched all his games when I was a child. I liked his touching, you could always tell he was about to create something important. And the way he kicked the ball...spectacular!”

You left your family to follow the dream of becoming a footballer...
“Yes, when I started when I was 14. It is not easy. I had to leave my parents, my friends and my girlfriends at the time. At the beginning it was hard, but then I got used to it.”

    Is Locatelli really so strong?
“Even more. He has vision and does everything in a very relaxed way. He’s grown even more now and has a great future ahead. He deserves everything he’s getting. I am on very good terms with him and with some other of my former teammates like Vido, De Santis, Felcioli.”

Are you happy to see that AC Milan are now investing on youths?
“It’s amazing. There are some cracks like Donnarumma and Calabria. I watch their games on TV and I think: well, I can also make it! My objective is to play in Serie A one day. I’d be proud of myself to play for them one day.”

Have you talked with Morosini about the interest of Inter?
“I think he has the skills to play in Serie A , even at Inter. However, we don’t talk about the future. We are only focused on doing well with Brescia.”
