Exclusive: Juventus in no rush to sign unhappy Liverpool star

No irrational purchases, no emergency action.  Juventus has changed its buying plan for January with regard to the midfield. They won’t invest on players that may be unworkable, as Tomas Rincon revealed to be after last season's rush signing in the winter market from Genoa. This will no longer be the guideline for Marotta and Paratici, who have been working for months on a low-cost, high-yielding purchase.

There are strong indications that Juve are anticipating the arrival of Emre Can in January. However, after last year’s mistake with Rincon, the Bianconeri are looking for other, less risky, options. While Can remains their number one target, Leon Goretzka, Fabinho, and Kevin Strootman are all fall back options.

Though Can is unhappy at Liverpool, and is likely to leave for less money than he otherwise would, Juventus is convinced Bentancur is a more intelligent investment. He was brought to Torino for only €9 million, a fraction of the €30/€25 million they think he’s worth. As a result, they won’t reach for Can. They now have the mindset to wait until his meets their price.
