EXCLUSIVE Romano: Sousa tried to persuade Cuadrado to rejoin Fiorentina

Juan Cuadrado joined Chelsea from Fiorentina exactly one year ago. The Colombia International failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge last term and José Mourinho decided to loan him to Fiorentina hatred rivals Juvents last summer.

Cuadrado signed with the Old Lady in August, but he was approached by his former team Fiorentina before completing Juventus move, calciomercato.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano reveals.

Viola manager Paulo Sousa called Cuadradato to try to persuade him to rejoin the Stadio Artemio Franchi and in case Juve would have dropped the 27-year-old winger, his Fiorentina comeback could have been a plausible option.

As widely known, Juventus eventually signed with the player last summer, though Cuadrado is still in good terms with the Portuguese manager.

Former Udinese star desires to remain at Juve beyond the end of the season with the Old Lady who will try to reduce the player’s € 20 million buyout clause.
