Exclusive: the reason behind Fiorentina's botched move for West Ham's Obiang

It looked to be a done deal but Pedro Obiang's reported move from Premier League outfit West Ham United to Fiorentina has appeared to hit a stumbling block. The deal seemed to have been extremely close to completion; with Obiang giving a 'yes' to the idea and the two clubs coming to an economic agreement of €10m plus one bonus of an undisclosed amount.

However, in the last few hours, West Ham have made a u-turn on the deal - down to the payment methods, of an installment plus a flat fee - and, as has been learned exclusively by CalcioMercato, Lille have appeared on scene; the Ligue 1 club wanting to satisfy West Ham's demands with the same amount offered but all in one go as a bumper fee - something that appeals to the Hammers more.
