Exclusive: Why Juventus refused to sign Barcelona midfielder in the summer

Juventus refused to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes last summer due to two main reasons, our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano can exclusively reveal.

The Old Lady made an attempt to sign the Portuguese star but Barcelona demanded € 50 million to let him go and the blaugrana were not open to sell the player on loan.

One of the main reasons behind Juventus’ Andre Gomes snub, however, is the player’s high salary. The Old Lady was not open to match the player’s contract demands and decided to drop the him.

In addition to that the bianconeri refused to sign Andre Gomes because of Rodrigo Bentancur. The Seire A giants signed the Uruguay starlet from Boca last summer and signing Andre Gomes would have meant to prevent the player from playing consistently.
Bentancur has already started three of Juventus 10 games of the season showing a continuous improvement and proving Juventus were right to drop Andre Gomes last summer.
