Former Inter, Roma defender Burdisso: 'Totti isn't a leader!'

With Genoa facing Inter tomorrow, former Nerazzurri defender Nicolas Burdisso took some time to speak to the Gazzetta dello Sport about his former club, which he was with from 2004 to 2009, before signing with Roma.

"Every day Inter was like a war," Burdisso told La Gazzetta.

"You fought to earn a place on the team and everyone always wanted to win. Playing like this against champions during Inter helps you improve.

"Gasperini was underestimated, instead he's an extremist, a revolutionary, he wasn't given any support.

"The best I ever played with? Adriano when he was at Inter, he was indescribable. He lost his way because he was too nice".

Very kind with Inter, the former Argentinian international (with whom he has 49 caps) wasn't so generous towards Roma, in particular its captain, Francesco Totti.

"Totti isn't a leader who carries the taem on his back.

"He's never asked questions of himself, never wondered whether it was better to play 15 years at Roma and win, or play 20 and win nothing.

"From a football perspective he's not a leader, Daniele De Rossi was too nice, he just wouldn't step on his toes and take over".

Burdisso
even had some very pertinent remarks about Calciopoli.

"I was left disappointed. After the news leaked out I thought it would be a good time to ask some tough questions, instead nothing changed.

"At one stage it felt like Inter were guilty, people obviously hadn't looked at what happened.

"The system in place was clinical: the referees didn't give penalties against you, but fouls and yellow cards. And Juventus still flaunt their revoked titles, they don't accept they did anything wrong".
