Griezmann: No regrets about turning down Man United

Antoine Griezmann doesn’t regret staying at Atletico.

The French international has not enjoyed a strong start to the season, scoring only two Liga goals since returning from suspension.

Approached on numerous occasions by Manchester United in the summer, the 26-year-old star waxed lyrical about being in Spain.

“I have no regrets about staying at Atletico,” Griezmann said to Telefoot.

“This was my decision and I’m happy with it, that’s not the reason why I’ve gone seven games without scoring.”

The Macon native and former Real Sociedad has still had some good game, scoring the first ever goal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“I haven’t discussed a January move away and the team will improve further with the arrivals of Diego Costa and Vitolo, the reinforcements will do us good.”

Speaking about leaving Atletico, this is what Griezmann had to say, possibly hinting at his brother’s much-publicised passion for Atletico Madrid.

“I haven’t always expressed myself well, like the other day I said it would be nice to play alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, of course it would, but that does not mean I want to join PSG.

“This season I have not been at my best...for France, yes it has been good but for Atletico maybe only two or three of my performances have been enough.

“I need to work hard to change this and to improve, I need to work on my shooting and also try to create more chances for my teammates – this team needs to get back to where we belong.”
