How Chelsea can qualify for Champions League knockout stages
- Kaustubh Pandey
Chelsea, who are second in the group, currently have seven points from four games, one point behind Roma and four points ahead Atletico Madrid, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Qarabag yesterday.
Wins against both the Rojiblancos and Qarabag will ensure a smooth qualification, but with Atletico in need of a result at Stamford Bridge, tides can turn if things go wrong for the Blues during the next gameweek.
A win or a draw against Atletico will guarantee qualification but a loss will complicate things. It will leave a one-point gap between Diego Simeone’s men and the Londoners, making a win against Qarabag a necessity for them.
A loss or draw against Qarabag away from home will do in the last gameweek, provided that Atletico fail to get a result against Roma.
