Inter CEO Marotta: 'There were no meetings to swap Higuain and Icardi'

New Inter Milan club CEO Beppe Marotta has revealed that his former club Juventus and the nerazzurri had never held any concrete talks to swap Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain for each other this past summer.

There were talks that Juve and Inter could exchange the strikers but Higuain eventually left to join AC Milan on loan in a deal that saw Mattia Caldara join Milan on a permanent basis and Leonardo Bonucci return to Juve.

Marotta was recently talking to the press during the Manager of the year 2018 award ceremony and he revealed that no talks or meetings were held between the clubs to exchange Icardi and Higuain.

He said: "The exchange between Icardi and Higuain? There were only surveys that were done in the transfer market, but there has never been anything concrete between Inter and Juventus.

We never sat down to talk about it."
