FC Barcelona's Spanish international full-back Jordi Alba shared his thoughts on the season so far at the club, a season that has gone off to a great start after the much publicized departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain this past summer.

"Neymar leaving had a big impact on the squad. He was a loved, charismatic player, but the team has been able to overcome his departure. Neymar is a great player, but he decided to leave. He is a great player who, due to his circumstances or feelings or thoughts, decided to leave. In the end, there are still many more guys who can do a good job and I am delighted with the people there. As I said before, I have more space to run into and honest, for me, it's much better."

Alba has enjoyed a resurgence under new coach Valverde managing to provide 4 assists so far this season, more than anyone else in the team, stated that "I have regained confidence. With more space on the left I am very comfortable and that is demonstrated in the field. I'm enjoying it in a way I haven't for a long time."

The interplay with Messi has been very good down Barcelona's left flank and Alba argued that "understanding the best in the world is very easy. His left foot is quite good for me. Since I arrived, we have always looked for each other. It is a privilege to play with him and I hope there are many more passes and connections."

In conclusion Alba explained that he talks to Messi even off the pitch: "We speak from time to time of the World Cup, of the strongest teams. We do not want Argentina either, they are a great team, they have the best in the world and surely nobody will want a team like Argentina."
