Juve-Napoli, the ones that got away: from Rugani to Zaza & Pereyra

It’s been a very hot summer on the transfer market between Juventus and Napoli. Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival in Turin has been well documented but what about the ones that got away. We take a look at three pieces of potential business that failed to be completed:

    RUGANI:
Almost an obsession with Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri; the vesuviani have been hot on the trail of Daniele Rugani for some time. With the arrival of Maksimovic at the San Paolo, it seemed that Sarri’s quest for the 22-year-old may cease. Juventus may have to keep declining politely for some time to come yet.

    ZAZA:
The scenario is different for Simone Zaza; Napoli were prepared to match West Ham United’s offer for the 25-year-old Italian but the vesuviani had expected Juve to grant them a little discount after the Higuain transfer. With nothing forthcoming from Turin, Napoli lost ground on the Premier League club who are close to making his signing permanent.

    PEREYRA:
A €13 million deal between the two clubs for Roberto Pereyra looked to have been agreed but then Higuain happened. The fall-out from the deal left a bitter taste in the mouth and left and left the 25-year-old Argentine on the road to Watford.
