Juventus: All the reasons for Allegri's Juve departure

Allegri incita Juve
17 May at 22:45
After five years, Massimiliano Allegri's time at the helm of Juventus is coming to an end. The Italian head coach today announced he would be leaving the club in the summer, ready to embark on a new challenge as Juventus prepare a reshuffle both on and off the pitch. After five consecutive Scudetto wins, Allegri was met with two rather cold meetings with the Bianconeri management; where the head coach learned that the upper staff, such as Agnelli and Nedved, are looking for something new. Days later, Allegri has announced his departure and Juventus will be searching for a new head coach - but why exactly has Allegri left Juventus?

Transfer Market Truths

In addition to the free signing of Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, which has already been arranged and confirmed, Allegri wanted at least five major purchases to bolster the squad. A world class central defender was at the top of Allegri's wishlist - in addition to an international level full-back, a young striker and potentially an extra midfielder if Miralem Pjanic or Sami Khedira were to leave the club.

Where Allegri found himself in major disagreement with the Juventus superiors, as far as the transfer market goes, is in terms of his desired departures. Although both Pjanic and Paulo Dybala are extremely talented players, a lack of consistency had led Allegri to ask for their departures - so that the funds could be reinvested with better quality players. However, this was a point of disagreement between Allegri and the management and has contributed to Allegri's departure from the club.

The Players' Influence

Another contributing factor to Allegri's departure is the growing discontent and poor attitudes amongst the Bianconeri players. Mario Mandzukic and Joao Cancelo both disappointed the head coach with their attitudes and Douglas Costa faced big attitude problems both on and off the pitch; the Brazilian suspended earlier in the season for spitting at Sassuolo's di Francesco.

A few issues with the squad are seen as normal in any team but the growing number of discontented Juve stars has led the Bianconeri management to intervene and is part of the reason why the decision has been made to find a new head coach.

Relationship with the Fans

Finally, although the transfer market and player concerns have been given as valid reasons for Allegri's departure, so has his relationship and attitude towards the fans. It is safe to say that Allegri has not always had good things to say about the Juve fans this season and it reached the point where he shut down his social media profiles to spare himself the abuse thrown at him from certain fans. However, many have argued that Allegri's move was cowardly and in fact a lack of accepting criticism made matters worse for the Italian.

When Allegri saw that it was not just the fans that had lost faith in him but the upper management too, it was only right for the Italian to leave his role and pursue a new adventure - with PSG and AC Milan linked as the likely destinations for Mister Allegri at this point.
