Man United boss Mourinho determined to extend midfielder's contact amid Barcelona interest

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is determined to secure Ander Herrera on a lengthy contract, offering ‘dizzying terms’ to the player, amid interest from Spanish giants Barcelona, according to Sport via SportWitness.

The Portuguese boss considers the midfielder an essential part of the team and has the funds and power to ensure that he stays with the reigning Europa League champions.

The 27-year-old, it is thought, hasn’t been in officially approached by Barcelona, leaving an opportunity for manager Mourinho to get the Spaniard to sign a long-term contract that would see him remain at Old Trafford.

The Man United boss is looking to build on a successful season last year, where they won the Community Shield, League Cup and the Europa League – the latter meaning that the side will be playing Champions League football next season, despite finishing 6th in the Premier League.

He, therefore, wants to keep the current winning mentality instilled at the club and wont risk rupturing it by selling key players off.
