England’s U-21 squad has a fresh new face in training camp this week. New York City FC forward Jack Harrison returns to his native country after being called up by the youth national team for the first time. Now, after seeing much success playing alongside David Villa, Andrea Pirlo, and Frank Lampard, European teams are taking note.

According to the Guardian, both deep-pocketed Manchester teams have their eyes on the 20-year-old starlet. Manchester United have familiarity with the Wake Forest University alumnus, as he was a member of their academy before moving to the United States with his mother.

However, Manchester City may have the inside track should they wish to bring him to The Ethiad. Sheikh Mansour owns both NYCFC and Manchester City, which will undoubtedly play a role when Harrison moves from the Big Apple.

In 2016, he became the first player selected in the MLS entry draft, by the Chicago Fire, but was immediately traded to New York City. In 32 matches this season, his second in MLS, he’s notched 10 goals and added three assists under manager Patrick Vieira.

Naturally a right-wing, Harrison has spent time at all three forward positions as well as an attacking midfielder. His emergence on the league stage has helped NYCFC to their current second-place position in the MLS standings.
