Mancini: "Now we have firm points of reference. No to the video replay, whilst on Gabbiadini...."

Inter coach Roberto Mancini has been talking at his press conference ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Napoli.

First question was about whether he still had hope for a third place finish. He replied; “The possibilities are diminishing but there’s still 18 points to play for and we have a duty to keep believing”.

Asked whether he thought a Napoli team minus top scorer Gonzalo Higuain would give his side an advantage he stated; “Napoli are a great team without Higuain. His goals have made the difference for sure but Gabbiadini is also a great player”.

When asked about his sides failure in attack, Mancini declared that; “It’s unfortunate that some of our strikers have failed to find the target consistently, this has been out Achilles heel this season”. He then had this to say when confronted with the question of keeping his best players for next season; “The objective for me and the president (Thohir), is to make the squad stronger every season. This remains the objective”.

Javier Zannetti recently stated that Inter needed to take more players with personality and experience. Mancini stated that; “Inter has to respect the financial fair-play restrictions it is under so we will search for the best players available under these guidelines”.

With Italy testing the new video referee technology next season, was Mancini in favour of it? “It’s not the slow motion in the field that’s the concern; it’s the mistakes being made by referees”. Asked why Telles had not been utilized more, he responded with; “Telles is young, he needs to adapt to the Italian championship”.
