MLS: Giovinco, not Pirlo deserves Italy EURO 2016 spot

Andrea Pirlo and Sebiastian Giovinco. The Maestro and the Atomic Ant, two men opposite fortunes.

The  former AC Milan and Juventus playmaker is not in the form of his life. Patrick Vieira did not even call him for the latest NY City FC’s game against Philadelphia Union. “Last year we didn’t play well, but it was our first season. This year everything will change with a new manager and the pre-season training camp”, Pirlo had said before the beginning of this campaign.

Things have actually changed for NY City FC, but going from bad to worse instead. Andrea Pirlo’s side could only win one of their opening seven games (3D, 3L) and the 36-year-old star is more than likely to miss out on Italy’s EURO squad.

Sebastian Giovinco is from another world at the moment. Scorer of six goals in seven games, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has named the Atomic Ant the best player of the whole league. Giovinco could not show his full potential during his time at Juventus, but he’s becoming a key figure which is proving how much the MLS has been growing over the last seasons..

With Antonio Conte struggling to find some decent strikers to call-up to Italy EURO 2016 squad, Giovinco could be the answer to the Italian tactician’s needs.
