Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given England defender Luke Shaw one last chance to save his Old Trafford career. The 22-year-old has had a nightmare spell at the Premier League giants since his big money move from Southampton in 2014 saw him become the most expensive teenager in British football.

A catalogue of injuries followed by a huge loss of form has seen the man from Kingston-Upon-Thames receive public criticism from the Portuguese tactician but according to the Daily Star, Mourinho is prepared to give the youngster one last chance to prove he’s worth his place in the squad.

Shaw has been training alone in the US whilst as he recovers from yet another injury and won’t take part in any of the club’s Champions Cup matches. The player is targeting the opening day fixture against West Ham but his boss has him under close scrutiny as the Red Devils get set for the new campaign.

With the transfer window open until the end of August, Shaw knows that any lapses of concentration or attitude will see him heading for the Old Trafford exit.
