Napoli enquire about Atletico Madrid star

According to the report the Pertenopei President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has already contacted Atletico Madrid to enquire into the availability of the former Sassuolo and Genoa player for when the transfer window opens in January. Los Colchoneros manager Diego Simeone turned Napoli down as he does not wish to part ways with the player in January but this does not discourage Napoli.
The Partenopei do not just see Vrsaljko as a replacement for the injured Ghoulam but given that Christian Maggio's contract is set to expire this coming June, a spot will open up in their squad. Vrsaljko is seen as the ideal solution as he can complement Albanian international Hysaj on the right side of their defence for when Ghoulam returns from injury.
