Porto receive sanctions for Financial Fair Play violations

Porto was sanctioned by UEFA, as the parameters of financial fair play were violated. It is the official sanction for the club that yesterday announced its new technician, Sergio Conceicao. As far as the fine is concerned, Porto will pay 2.2 million EUR (which will be retained by the Uefa Prizes for the 2016/17 season) Of this payment, 0.7 million EUR will be paid immediately, while the remaining 1.5 million are tied to compliance with the obligations.

From a sporting standpoint, the Portuguese club can only register 22 players in their A list for Uefa competitions in 2017/18 and only 23 in 2018/19. These restrictions will be removed from 2019/20 if the club respects its obligations. In addition, Porto can only enter a small number of new players in List A, with the obligation to respect the balance between incoming and outgoing revenue at the economic level. This comes to a blow for the Portuguese side, who after falling to Juventus in the Champions League also fell to rivals Benfica in the Portugal La Liga title race.
