PSG goalkeeper coy about future
He was recently linked to Newcastle United, among others.
Asked about his new contract, which would expire in the summer of 2019, the Frenchman said: “My extension? At the moment, I have to objectives to reach, and when the moment comes we’ll talk about it,” Areola said to the French press.
The young 24-year-old came through PSG’s academy, but is not necessarily seen as a long-term Number 1.
Still, he is currently the starter ahead of German Kevin Trapp, but is seen as being more reliable.
Trapp recently complained that "As far as the World Cup is concerned, I absolutely have to be playing," Trapp recently said according to Marca.
"I do not know if I will play for PSG in the domestic cups, we have not spoken about that yet. If I am not going to play, I will need to think."
