Report: Arsenal's bid for Manchester United forward rejected

Amidst rising interest in Manchester United star Anthony Martial, reports have emerged that Arsenal have made an offer for the forward. However, per the reports, executives at Old Trafford have rejected the initial advances from the London club.

Arsene Wenger seems to be keen on bringing the fellow Frenchman to The Emirates. After setting the Premier League on fire with 17 goals in his first season, the 21-year-old has found the net five times this year.

The Daily Express is reporting that Arsenal want to add Martial alongside newcomer Alexandre Lacazette, and want to do so as early as January. After spending a record £52 million to bring Lacazette from Lyon, the Gunnars will likely have to break their transfer record once again to bring Martial into the fold.

United are unlikely to be easy negotiators as they currently sit tied atop the Premier League with their rivals, Manchester City. Jose Mourinho has an embarrassment of riches between Martial, Romelu Lukaku, and Marcus Rashford up top. Additionally, they are expecting Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return in the winter, which could make Martial expendable for the right amount.
