Report: Gattuso might stay at AC Milan next season

The 41-year-old’s prospect of staying with the Rossoneri can increase with a top-four finish. Gennaro Gattuso might still have a future with AC Milan as news of his departure from the club have seen a decline in the recent weeks.

There were suggestions the 41-year-old’s tenure as the head coach of the Rossoneri will come to an end following the conclusion of the league campaign regardless of the club's Serie A position at the end of the season.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Gattuso might still have a future if he guides the club to a top-four finish this season.

Milan are currently placed fifth on the league table with 62 points in 36 matches, three behind fourth-placed Atalanta with only two game weeks left.

As per the report, Gattuso’s future prospect of staying at the club has increased in the past few weeks despite a poor result against Torino. One of the reasons for such a development is the manager's good relationship with the CEO of the club Ivan Gazidis.

The 54-year-old is the man who will make the final call regarding who will be managing AC Milan in the 2019-2020 season. Though it must be noted that Gattuso might opt to leave the Milan-based club on his own even if the hierarchy decide to keep him on the bench next season.
