Revealed: Bonucci offered Montolivo AC Milan captaincy

Leonardo Bonucci is not in the form of his life. The Italian joined AC Milan from Juventus for € 42 million but has failed to live up to expectations so far. AC Milan are without a win in all competitions in the last six games and Bonucci received a straight red card yesterday which will force him to skip the next two games against Chievo and Juventus.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Repubblica, Bonucci offered the AC Milan captaincy to Riccardo Montolivo, the former rossoneri captain.

“If I am the problem, this is the captain armband”, Bonucci is reported to have told the rest of his teammates after yesterday’s home draw against Genoa.

Both Montolivo and the rest of AC Milan players, however, have refused to take the captain armband off Bonucci and told him that he should continue being the AC Milan captain for the rest of the season.
